After what seems like forever, Instagram has finally answered our prayers and introduced DMs on desktop. It's interesting to think that once upon a time the photo-sharing tool wasn't available on desktop at all, but now that the platform is widely used for business purposes, I think the move to make Instagram computer-friendly is a good one.

How to Access DMs on Desktop
- Head to Instagram in your web browser and log in.
- Click on the paper airplane icon at the top of the screen (located between the Home button and the Discover button).
- From here, the experience is the same as the app. You can access your Primary and General inboxes as well as the Requests. You can compose a new message or reply to existing messages.
How to Send Instagram DMs on Desktop
To send DMs you can go directly to your inbox as described above, or you can visit a profile and click the Send Message button on their page.
Additionally, you can share individual posts or stories by clicking on the paper airplane icon under the post/story, and selecting "Share to Direct."
One feature I'm excited about is you can send images via desktop, which means you can easily upload images from your computer in your DMs, which is an incredibly beneficial tool in the world of social-media-as-customer-service.
