Green Bean Tater Tot Casserole
Servings: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small sweet onion chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese divided
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups frozen cut green beans
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray a 9x13 casserole dish with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, half of the shredded cheese, milk, green beans, salt, pepper, and garlic powder until combined. Taste and add additional salt and pepper if desired.
- Spread the meat mixture in the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Evenly sprinkle the remaining shredded cheddar over the meat. Top the cheese with a single layer of tater tots.
- Bake the casserole for 40-45 minutes or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Storage: To store leftovers, allow it to cool to room temperature and cover in plastic wrap or store in an airtight container. Refrigerate for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
Freezer: This is a great freezer meal. If freezing, the casserole can be frozen either baked or unbaked.
Reheating: Whether frozen or refrigerated, tater tot casserole is best reheated in the oven for crispy tots.
