This peanut butter and jelly smoothie gives you two smoothies in one glass: one half creamy peanut butter with protein powder and oats, the other half sweet strawberry jam. Inspired by a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, this smoothie is thick, protein packed, and sweetened with honey and jam.

You’ll blend two separate smoothies, then pour them side by side for a fun, two-tone drink that tastes as good as it looks. The peanut butter side is rich and nutty with oats, cottage cheese, and creamy peanut butter (without banana). The "jelly" side is nice and jammy, made with frozen sliced berries and jam for extra fruit flavor.

Recipe Highlights
- Two-in-one smoothie: You get a peanut butter smoothie and a strawberry smoothie in one glass.
- Kid-friendly: Kids (and adults, who am I kidding?) love the fun colors and familiar flavors. It's a great smoothie recipe to make together with supervision.
- Protein-packed: Cottage cheese and protein powder give this smoothie a little protein boost.

Ingredients

- Milk: Use your favorite milk or dairy-free alternative.
- Cottage cheese: Blends smoothly, adds protein, thickens the consistency, and has a neutral flavor (compared to Greek yogurt, which can be a little overpowering).
- Peanut butter protein powder: Adds flavor and protein. My personal pick is Ghost Nutter Butter flavor.
- Old fashioned oats: Help thicken the smoothie, adds fiber and whole grains, and adds a nutty bread-like flavor.
- Creamy peanut butter: Adds rich, nutty flavor. I like natural peanut butter (no stir).
- Honey: Sweetens both sides (see Substitution below for alternatives).
- Ice: Helps thicken and chill the pb side.
- Strawberry jam: Adds concentrated berry flavor, sweetness, and color.
- Frozen strawberries: Sliced frozen berries.

Instructions

Add the peanut butter smoothie ingredients to a blender: milk, cottage cheese, protein powder, oats, peanut butter, honey, and ice. Blend until smooth. Transfer to a glass or container and rinse the blender.

Add the strawberry smoothie ingredients to the clean blender: milk, cottage cheese, jam, honey, and strawberries. Blend until smooth.

Hold both smoothies and pour them into your 16-ounce serving glasses at the same time side by side, dividing evenly to fill each cup with half peanut butter and half strawberry.

Drizzle with peanut butter (slightly warmed for a loose consistency), if desired, and serve immediately.
Substitutions
- Milk: Use any milk you like, regular milk, almond milk, oat milk, or coconut milk all work.
- Peanut butter protein powder: Use vanilla or skip entirely. If skipping, reduce the liquid a bit to help the smoothie stay thick.
- Peanut butter: Use almond butter or even sunflower seed butter for a nut-free version.
- Honey: Try maple syrup, agave, or a granulated sugar alternative like a stevia blend.
- Strawberry jam: Raspberry or blueberry jam will also work, or you could add a splash of juice.
- Frozen strawberries: Use whatever frozen berries you like! Raspberries or a berry mix work great.
Equipment
I personally love my Ninja blender. I had an older model, and when it was time for a new one, I stuck with the Ninja brand because it's a darn good blender. Plus, it comes with two bullet-style smoothie cups.
Behind the Recipe
I made this smoothie because I love PB&J anything and everything. It’s a fun way to get protein, whole grains, and fruit into a breakfast or snack that actually keeps me full. My husband was shocked by how much this smoothie tastes like PB&J.
The trick to a split-pour smoothie is making the smoothie thick enough. If one smoothie is too thin, the colors will blend together. Add more oats, protein powder, or ice to thicken the peanut butter side. For the "jelly" side, add more frozen fruit.

FAQ
Make sure both smoothies are thick (see my recipe video for reference). Pour slowly and evenly, side by side, into the glass.
Not at all. It blends in and makes the smoothie creamy.
