This Ninja Creami cookies and cream ice cream recipe is made with heavy cream, whole milk, cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and Oreo cookies.
This homemade ice cream recipe is designed for the Ninja Creami ice cream maker. You start with a classic vanilla ice cream and use the mix-in function to incorporate chocolate sandwich cookies.
This creamy ice cream has the perfect texture. Try adding your other favorite mix-ins to satisfy your sweet tooth.
The ice cream mixture freezes for 24 hours before you can process it. If this is your first time, it may seem like quite the wait, but it is well worth it.

Instructions
Microwave the cream cheese for 10-15 seconds in a large, microwave-safe bowl.
Once the cream cheese is softened, add the granulated sugar and vanilla extract, mixing with a silicone spatula to combine. The mixture will be thick.
Mix in the milk and heavy cream a little bit at a time, stirring until fully combined.
At this point, the sugar should be fully dissolved. You can use the spatula to scrape the bottom of the bowl to see if there are any undissolved sugar granules.
Pour the mixture into an empty Creami pint. Place the storage lid on the pint and freeze it on a level surface for 24 hours.
After freezing, remove the pint from the freezer and remove the lid.
Put the opened pint into the outer bowl of the Ninja Creami machine, install the Creamerizer Paddle to the lid, and lock the lid assembly to the bowl. Slide the bowl assembly into the machine's motor base, twist it to the right to lock it into place, and select the Ice Cream button.
After processing is complete, unlock and remove the bowl assembly from the ice cream maker and remove the lid. Re-spin if needed but do not over-process this ice cream as the heavy cream can become greasy/buttery.
With the silicone spatula or a spoon, create a small tunnel in the center of the ice cream to the bottom of the pint.
Add the halved Oreos to the hole. Reassemble the bowl and process using the Mix-In program.
Serve immediately.
Scoopable Ice Cream: The consistency Ninja ice cream is closer to soft serve than scoopable traditional ice cream. For solid scoops, you will need to freeze the ice cream again for several hours after processing it.
It softens again rather quickly, so I recommend simply enjoying your soft ice cream in a bowl and skipping the waffle cone or sugar cone altogether. If you like the waffle cone taste, you can crumble it into your ice cream as a mix-in.
Substitutions
Cream cheese: Instant vanilla pudding mix or sugar-free pudding mix can be used in place of cream cheese as a binding agent. You can also use ¼ to ½ teaspoon of guar gum.
Sugar: Sugar substitutes such as stevia can be used in place of granulated sugar.
Vanilla: Instead of vanilla extract, you can use vanilla bean paste using the same quantity listed.
Whole milk: Whole milk will give you the creamiest result, but any milk can be used. Non-fat milk or milk alternatives such as almond milk or oat milk will have an icier consistency.
Heavy cream: Heavy whipping cream contains at least 36 percent milk fat. If heavy cream is over-processed in the Creami, it can add a greasy, butter-like texture to the ice cream. For a lighter option, try half and half (that is half cream, half milk for my non-U.S. readers).
Oreos: You can use any flavor Oreo (or any cookie for that matter!). Try golden Oreos, Oreo thins, mint creme Oreos, birthday cake Oreos, and more.
Variations
Lite ice cream: For a lite cookies and cream recipe, try my Ninja Creami Oreo Protein Ice Cream, the perfect frozen treat. This lighter version uses sugar-free pudding mix, Stevia, and a protein shake.
Mix-Ins: Try your favorite mix-ins like chocolate chips, pretzels, or cereal with this base recipe. Use your extra pint containers to prep several pints of Ninja Creami vanilla ice cream at a time.
Equipment
Storage
Cover the pint with the storage lid before refreezing. The ice cream will firm up as it re-freezes, but since this is a full-fat recipe, you more than likely will not need to re-spin the ice cream when you enjoy it later.
If it is difficult to scoop, set it out on the counter at room temperature for about 5 minutes. If you do re-spin it, use the ice cream settings and note that processing the pint a second time will break down the mix-ins further.
Top Creami Tips
Below are a few important tips for getting the best results out of your Ninja Creami ice cream machine.
- Use an upright freezer - Chest freezers get too cold. If your pint is too cold, you may get a wall of ice around your pint that won't process well.
- Freeze on a level surface - Processing pints frozen at an angle could damage the machine or blade. The pint should sit level in your freezer.
- Respect the mix fill line - Abide by the max fill line when freezing your base. You can exceed the max fill line when adding mix-ins.
- Process half the pint - With the Deluxe model you can process just the top half of the pint and save the rest for later. You can also process the top half with one mix-in, scoop it out, and then process the second half with a different mix-in, perfect for sharing.
See your Ninja Creami user manual and safety instructions prior to use.
